63rd IAA Cars: German automotive history with impressive range of brands
IAA’s historic vehicle exhibition "Legendary German Automobile Brands”
Has any one heard of "Röhr" or "Stoewer"? These are just two of almost 500 brands standing for German automotive history. Many of them can be admired in over 200 museums in Germany for automobiles and technology - and this number of automotive museums practically makes Germany a world champion. A selection of the huge range of "almost forgotten" brands, with great histories - or maybe small histories - will be presented to visitors to the 63rd IAA Cars in Frankfurt by the Association of German automobile, engine and technology museums (also known as the "German Museum Road") jointly with the VDA.
Entitled "Legendary German Automobile Brands," the exhibition covering approx. 1000 sq m in Hall 9 will show selected historic German vehicles that will probably no longer be familiar to many visitors.
Many enthusiasts in historic vehicle clubs and the Automobilclub von Deutschland (Automobile club of Germany, AvD) look after and conserve historic vehicles, as does the German Federation for Motor Trades and Repairs (ZDK), which will also be present at the trade show with their traditional themes on the joint stand. Visitors both young and old can take a walking tour to experience the fascination of historic vehicles, and discover how much work goes into preserving the shine of these "treasures." And if young people suddenly fall in love with the "old" cars, they can get information about the planned new apprenticeship as a restorer of historic vehicles.
The 63rd IAA Cars is organized by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), and will be attended by around 700 exhibitors from more than 40 countries showcasing the latest highlights and trends in the automotive industry.
