German Professional Driver Qualification Act: initial practical experience
IAA specialist event on 23 September organised by Verlag Heinrich Vogel and VDA
Berlin, 28 July 2010 The EU has revised the provisions governing training for professional drivers. Under the new regulations, drivers have to undergo more extensive training than before. Germany has transposed the EU Directive into national law as the Professional Driver Qualification Act (Berufskraftfahrer-Qualifikationsgesetz, BKrFQG), which applies to newcomers to the job and experienced drivers alike. It means that in future drivers at transport companies, forwarders and bus companies will have to do 35 hours of periodic training every five years. Those who acquire a new truck or bus driver’s licence will have to prove that they have a basic qualification. This applies to all companies that employ their own drivers.
Experts and companies will report on practical experience with new law at the IAA Commercial Vehicles on 23 September. The specialist event "The German Professional Driver Qualification Act: initial practical experience” is aimed at all persons responsible for this field in companies and at providers of initial and periodic training. They will find answers to the latest legal questions and can obtain information about how the BKrFQG is being implemented in various firms.
The event is being organised by the publishers Verlag Heinrich Vogel and the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), and will be held in the Convention Center, Room 3A, on the Hannover trade fair grounds, beginning at 10.00 h. The speakers and their lecture topics are as follows:
