VDA’s 9th Logistics Congress in Leipzig on 25 and 26 February
Optimized logistics is a key competitive advantage and helps the environment
Berlin/Leipzig, 22 February 2010. "Logistics represents an important competitive factor for the German automotive industry and helps the environment. It makes a key contribution to the success of the industry on all of our sales markets,” said Matthias Wissmann, President of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). He was speaking in advance of the VDA’s 9th Logistics Congress, which will be held in Leipzig on 25 and 26 February, and went on to say that in the coming years more potential for optimization could be expected in the area of logistics. "Those who have the most efficient logistical processes in production and sales will be one step ahead of the worldwide competition.” Intelligent logistics also helped avoid unnecessary transportation, Wissmann added.
Under the headline "Right of Way for Logistics – Intelligent Control of the Automotive Supply Chains in Volatile Markets,” the VDA’s 9th Logistics Congress 2010 will be a place for high-ranking logistics experts from Germany and abroad to meet for an exchange of opinions and experience, and to attend talks and specialist events. This year the congress focuses on the topics of IT and logistics, packaging, the aftermarket and employee development. The speakers include Rainer Bomba, State Secretary in the German Federal Ministry of Transport, who will speak on Thursday, and James A. Tompkins from the logistics consultants Tompkins Associates International, who will open the second day of the congress on Friday.
The VDA’s Logistics Congress was Europe’s most important meeting specializing in logistics, Wissmann continued, saying, "In Leipzig all aspects to do with even more efficient transport are examined in detail.”
For the third time the congress will conclude with the VDA’s Logistics Award to a company from the automotive sector. The winner will be announced in the evening of 25 February in the Customer Center at Porsche’s Leipzig plant. Last year the award went to Robert Bosch GmbH.
