International Motor Show – IAA
The origins of the IAA can be traced back to more than 100 years. In 1897, 8 motor vehicles were exhibited to the public at the Bristol Hotel in Berlin. From these humble beginnings, a regular exhibition was established that, due to its high visitor turnout, had to be separated into an alternating exhibition of passenger cars and commercial vehicles in 1991.
IAA Cars
Under the auspices of the VDA, the IAA Cars has been held in odd-numbered years since 1991 in Frankfurt/Main. After the German Reunification boom, a record level of visitors attended the IAA Cars in 2003. About 1000 exhibitors from 42 countries presented their products over an area of 215 000 square meters. The next IAA Cars in 2005 actively covered the topics of hybrids, hydrogen and SCR technologies and current problems.
"See what’s driving the future" was the motto of the IAA Cars 2007. The focus of the 62nd IAA Cars was the newest developments aimed at achieving CO2 reductions. German manufacturers, for example, presented a whole range of diesel, gasoline, natural gas and hybrid models.
IAA Commercial Vehicles
The special exhibition for commercial vehicles has been held in Hanover in even-numbered years since 1992. From the start, this VDA event booked 1318 companies as exhibitors. In 2000, the number of visitors from the business sector increased to over 90 percent. In 2006, the IAA Commercial Vehicles was top-ranked worldwide with more than 250 world premiers from 46 countries.

The 63rd IAA Commercial Vehicles will take place in Hanover from September 23 to 30, 2010.
