Welcome to the IAA!
The automotive industry is one of the most exciting and innovative sectors to be in! 125 years after the invention of the automobile we are working intensively on the continuing development of mobility: by optimising the classical drivetrains (clean diesel and petrol engines), by developing alternative drivetrains, from the mild hybrid and the plug-in hybrid, to battery-driven electric cars and fuel cells. We are making great progress in reducing CO2 and fuel consumption. At the same time, we have to raise the high standards in safety, comfort and design even further. The German automotive industry invests around 20 billion euro in research and development every year.
This key industry is full of challenges and offers young, highly motivated and well qualified people the best opportunities with huge potential for the future. Our companies both support and need curious, committed up-and-coming engineers.
The VDA’s "GoIng” initiative intends to make children in their final years at secondary school enthusiastic about a career in engineering in the automotive industry. At the IAA, GoIng invites all young people facing career choices to attend a workshop. It will give them the opportunity to find out more: about this exciting industry, its fascinating products and the challenging courses leading to a job as an engineer in the automotive industry.
Furthermore, GoIng puts youngsters in contact with the automotive companies – right on site at the IAA exhibition stands. Professors of engineering and young engineers with practical experience will be available so the young visitors can discuss their career plans face-to-face.
We hope that GoIng will encourage and support all young people who are about to embark on a career as an engineer in the automotive industry.
