Urban Automotives of the Future
With the VDA design competition, which is being held for the fifth time, the organizers are appealing to the up-and-coming generation of designer to address the themes of mobility and private transport in a visionary way.
In 2030, 60% of the world’s population will live in cities. Megacities, which are becoming ever more concentrated, are emerging. In tomorrow’s city, space will be a rare commodity.
Given this scenario, how is traffic going to develop in cities? How can the development of cities be reconciled with the need for individual mobility, which is growing just as fast?
With this competition the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) and the German Design Council intent to work on concepts and design of visionary solutions on this challenge.
The competition is supported by BMW, FORD, MERCEDES-BENZ, OPEL und VOLKSWAGEN.
Prize ceremony and exhibiton of this competition will take place during the IAA International Motor Show in September 2011 in Frankfurt.
Registration and entry deadline: July, 2011 (date of the postmark)
Jury meeting: Late July, 2011
