The Communications and Information Technology Working Party (AK KIT) concentrates on the design, adaptation and harmonisation of the information flow that supports processes, especially within the automotive supply process. It examines higher-level aspects of electronic business transactions and the associated IT topics. This includes communications and message standards for electronic data exchange, harmonisation of web applications and the harmonisation of documents and machine-readable data carriers.
The resolution by the former Task Force Electronic Business Connections (AKEG) provided that new messages were no longer to be developed in the VDA format, but only on the basis of EDIFACT messages or Odette subsets. Existing VDA Recommendations will only be adapted if and when required by changes in the legislation! The AK KIT Steering Committee currently meets four times a year (dates available from kuehnast@vda.de).
VDA Recommendations
You will find the complete list of cost-free downloads under Publications.
The AK KIT also has project groups (PGs) and a working group (AG). In the areas of SCHEDULE, ORDER DESPATCH and WebEDI temporary project groups are formed as needed, which work through their project remit as defined and approved by the AK KIT.
By contrast, the Payment Procedures Working Group is a permanent group currently meeting four times a year (dates available from kuehnast@vda.de).
Working Group
Payment Procedures
The Payment Procedures Working Group is concerned with the development, maintenance and application of data structures for the electronic exchange of display data for invoices and credits within the existing VDA Recommendations 4906, 4907, 4908 and 4938.
The working group works intensively on integrating new developments in the procedures for handling invoices and credits – not only for production materials, but also for raw materials and supplies. Currently this most importantly includes complying with the requirements for the integrity and authenticity of data during electronic transmission. The working group also turns its attention to the integration of service providers to support the invoicing process. Here the aim is to achieve standardised procedures and harmonised technical applications in the sense of best practices. In addition, the working group is concerned with the requirements that companies have to fulfil for cross-boarder invoicing.
Within the VDA, the working group co-operates closely with the VAT working party.
Since 2000, ITA (Information Technology for the Automotive Industry, a consortium of IT and software companies) has been working in partnership with the VDA to support the automotive industry in developing novel solutions and standards, implementing modern IT technologies faster, and improving and simplifying existing procedures. Over the years ITA has thus developed into an important platform for communication between the automotive industry and the IT companies in the automotive sector.
