Standardisation – An important topic for rationalization and quality assurance

Standardization promotes rationalization and quality assurance. The Automotive Standards Committee (formerly FAKRA) is an institution of the VDA and DIN German Institute for Standardization and represents the national and international standardization interests of the automotive field. The scope includes the drawing up of all product-specific standards for road vehicles (with the exception of agricultural tractors and special vehicles such as municipal, firefighting and emergency rescue vehicles). The Automotive Standards Committee is also responsible for the standardization of multimodal transport containers like freight containers and swap container bodies. It also works together with the German Electrical Engineering Commission (DKE) to standardize the field of road transport telematics.
