Technical Congress 2011

Environment, Energy and Electric Mobility / Vehicle Safety and Electronics

23rd and 24th of March 2011 in Ludwigsburg (Germany)

In the wide-ranging topic of "Environment and Energy,” along with "Vehicle Safety and Electronics” and the special session entitled "Electric Mobility” at the 2011 Technical Congress, we offer you an opportunity to obtain comprehensive information about the latest developments and trends and to enter into an exchange with other specialists. We therefore hope that the accompanying technical exhibition will showcase the opportunities that electric mobility offers now and in the future, and will set in motion constructive discussions that should prove helpful to you in your work.

IAA 2010 Symposium

Environmentally and climate-friendly road Transport – Electric mobility is on the way…and what else besides?
Wednesday, September 29, 2010

Organisers: German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) and lastauto omnibus

Efficient, flexible, future-proof – this was the headline for IAA 2010 Commercial Vehicles.
It emphasises the way the commercial vehicle industry sees itself – not just as an industry
manufacturing vehicles for certain transportation tasks, but one that offers transport efficiency. This
has become evident over recent years, especially where the protection of the environment and the
climate is concerned. And this aspect is one we will keep in mind, particularly in the growing
economies in countries of Asia and South America. When it comes to technology, efficiency-improved
conventional powertrains are just as important as new types of powertrains and the use of clean fuels.
For example, there is clear progress in the field of electric drive trains variously adapted to particular
applications, which will become firmly established for short journeys in urban traffic in particular. We
will not have electrically powered long-distance trucks in the foreseeable future – in this area the
optimised diesel will continue to be the first choice for transport.
Electric mobility is bridging the gap between the demands and hopes of social policy on the one hand,
and technological realities on the other. Our specialist event organised jointly with the journal "lastauto
omnibus” offered a platform for discussing this development.
