Environment policy and technical environment protection – A central issue for the VDA
Since an essential objective of the German automotive industry is to protect the environment, the Environment Department focuses not only on general environmental protection issues like emissions but also environmental protection requirements on the production side. The department continually strives to minimize the environmental effects of products and production processes by application of its numerous innovations. The emphasis here is placed on a holistic approach that considers the entire lifecycle of a product. The department also advises other areas like chemical safety, occupational safety, occupational medicine, fire protection and factory energy supply. Vehicle recycling and ecofinancing are other areas of concentration.
