Matthias Wissmann has written a number of books, e.g. Für eine humane Gesellschaft - zum Programmdenken der jungen Generation (For a humane society - on the program mentality of the young generation) (1976), Marktwirtschaft 2000 (Market Economy 2000) (1984), Deutsche Perspektiven (German Perspectives) (1990) and Die Soziale Marktwirtschaft (Social Market Economy) (1998). He is also active in a voluntary capacity on the board of "Philharmonia of the Nations" and in the "Schlossfestspiele Ludwigsburg" (Ludwigsburg Castle Festival).
