An integral part of our future mobility
The electrification of vehicles of the future is becoming more important and fosters development of the total system of electric mobility. This system connects electric vehicles – ranging from plug-in hybrids and range-extender vehicles all the way to battery-electric vehicles and fuel cell vehicles – with the energy system and the traffic system, thus enhancing future mobility.
The Electric Mobility Department is part of the industry’s co-ordination unit for electric mobility, where it represents the interests of the automotive industry. It supports the joint efforts of the members of the National Platform for Electric Mobility (NPE) in taking a systemic, market-oriented approach open to various technologies, to develop Germany into the leading provider and leading market for electric mobility by 2020.
In co-operation with the associations BDEW, BDI, Bitkom, VCI and ZVEI, the department organises the "Electric Mobility Congress” at the annual International Motor Show (IAA), which documents the achievements of the automotive industry and its partners in this field. The Working Group for Electric Mobility and the Working Group for Energy Storage Systems discuss political and technical issues and develop common positions.
