Logistics

The year 2013 was characterized by a very high level of production of cars, and a slightly lower level for the truck sector. The ever-growing number of derivatives means that logistics operators throughout the entire supply networks of the global automotive industry are being faced by new challenges time and time again.

National and international Networking

Bundesvereinigung Logistik e.V. (BVL)

Together with the BVL, the VDA Logistics Department organizes each year the Forum Automotive Logistics (FAL), a conference where more than 500 experts from the automotive industry, the logistics industry, the packaging industry and the information technology meet to find out about current and future developments in the field of logistics.

Deutscher Speditions- und Logistikverband e.V. (DSLV)

One key aspect of the work of the comittees of the Logistics Department is the development of best-practice recommendations for the design of delivery processes. In these processes, logistics service providers play an important role. Together with the DSLV recommendations are developed particular for communication with transport services providers by EDI to harmonize the material and information flow optimally and to establish standards for communication as far as possible.

Forum electronic invoicing in Germany (FeRD)

The forum was established under the umbrella of the AWV - Association for Economic Management eV., which is promoted by the Federal Ministry of Economics and energy (BMWi) by decision of the German Bundestag.

The Forum is perceived as an independent mediator at the interface of ministries, associations and enterprises.

Electronic accounting procedures are well established in the automotive supply chain for decades. Through active participation in FeRD the VDA supports the further spread of electronic invoices and tries to ensure that the interests of its members are adequately taken into account in the development of national standards.

Odette International

Odette International is the European umbrella organization of national associations and organizations that deal with the development of standards and recommendations for electronic data interchange (EDI) in the automotive industry as well as for logistics processes, key figures and performance evaluations (assessments) in those areas.

The VDA Logistics Department represents the German automotive industry in this network and as Odette member cooperates also actively with the North American Association AIAG and the Japanese automotive associations JAMA / JAPIA.

From this collaboration arose, inter alia, recommendations such as the Global EDI messages and the Global MMOG / LE (Logistic performance evaluation)

Together with Odette, the organization code (Odette IDs) and digital certificates are assigned which are important for security in data transmission.
