Proposals from the German automotive industry for improving the European Chemicals Regulation
Summary
For the automotive industry, the REACH Regulation (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization
and Restriction of Chemicals) is the central regulatory framework for more transparent handling of chemicals and enhanced environmental and health protection along the entire value
chain. The planned revision offers the opportunity to reduce bureaucracy, strengthen legal
certainty, increase transparency, and promote the circular economy—while maintaining the
high level of protection for human health and the environment. The VDA (German Association
of the Automotive Industry) calls for a practical, risk-based, and innovation-friendly further
development of the REACH Regulation.
