Country days and foreign trade – the IAA looks far afield

Berlin, 11 September 2014

IAA specialist events about international markets

The IAA Commercial Vehicles has never been more international than it is this year. A total of 2,064 exhibitors from 45 countries will be represented on the trade fair grounds in Hannover, and for the first time the proportion of foreign exhibitors has almost reached 60 per cent. This shows that the IAA is the world’s leading trade fair for transport, mobility and logistics. The programme of events also reflects the international character of the exhibition. For example, it includes specialist congresses on China, India and Turkey, plus a symposium on foreign trade promotion and development cooperation.

IAA China Day

More than one in three commercial vehicles sold anywhere in the world is sold in China. This special dynamic of the Chinese market will be examined at the IAA China Day. The event is traditionally run by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), but this year for the first time it is being organised in cooperation with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Automotive Sub-council (CCPIT Auto). The discussion and networking forum for representatives of industry, business and politics will welcome high-calibre speakers who will present an overview of the current state of the Chinese market and explore future developments.

The event will take place on Friday, 26 September 2014, from 12.00 h to 14.30 h, in Room 1A of the Convention Center on the Hannover trade fair grounds.

“Logistics International – Partner China”

In a globalised world, international logistics partnerships are a key feature of economic cooperation. Following on from the IAA China Day, the VDA is organising the event “Logistics International – Partner China” jointly with the Logistics Alliance Germany (LAG). It will give representatives of Chinese associations and companies an opportunity to discover how the LAG finds partner companies and sector-specific services in the German logistics business, and to engage in discussions.

The event will be held on Friday, 26 September 2014, from 15.00 h to 18.00 h, in Room 3A of the Convention Center on the Hannover trade fair grounds.

IAA India Day

This year the IAA will hold its ninth India Day. The organisers are the VDA, the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) and the Indian automotive manufacturers’ and suppliers’ associations (SIAM and ACMA). At this specialist event, which has established itself as an important platform for Indo-German relations, high-ranking representatives from politics and business will present prospects for cooperation between the two countries.

The symposium will take place on Wednesday, 1 October 2014, from 10.00 h to 14.00 h, in Room 2 of the Convention Center on the Hannover trade fair grounds.

IAA Turkey Day

During recent years Turkey has become established as a major international commercial vehicle market, also for German manufacturers and suppliers. The fifth IAA Turkey Day is therefore being run by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), the Turkish Association of Automotive Parts & Components Manufacturers (TAYSAD) and the Uludag Automotive Industry Exporters' Association (OIB). This year the partnership has the slogan “Science Bridging Nations”. Representatives from business and academia will give the participants an insight into German-Turkish cooperation and illuminate its future prospects.

The event will take place on Monday, 29 September 2014, from 14.00 h to 17.00 h, in Conference Room 1B of the Convention Center on the Hannover trade fair grounds.

Together into new markets! – Foreign Trade Promotion and Development Cooperation

Access to markets of emerging and developing countries is frequently associated with a lack of financing options, a lot of red tape and insufficient networks and contacts. An introduction to the many possibilities for foreign trade promotion and development cooperation will be provided at the symposium “Together into new markets! – Foreign Trade Promotion and Development Cooperation” organised by the VDA, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft (DEG), and Germany Trade and Invest (GTAI). Speakers from these fields will present projects that have already been realised, and describe the prospects on a wide variety of foreign markets.

The event will be held on Tuesday, 30 September 2014, from 10.00 h to 12.30 h, in Room 13/14 of the Convention Center on the Hannover trade fair grounds.
