BGL/VDA Entrepreneurs’ Day – IAA with New Mobility World logistics
The demands on commercial freight vehicles in transport and logistics are increasing considerably. It is clear that CO2 emissions from road freight traffic will have to be reduced even further in the future. How are the companies in the commercial vehicle industry tackling these challenges? What strategies are they pursuing? These questions will be discussed in detail at the BGL/VDA Entrepreneurs’ Day “Climate protection 2050: Commercial vehicles of tomorrow – perspectives” at the 66th IAA Commercial Vehicles. The Entrepreneurs’ Day organized by the BGL (German freight transport association), the trade journal “lastauto omnibus” and the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) will bring high-ranking speakers from industry and logistics firms together at the “New Mobility World logistics.”
The event will be opened by VDA Managing Director Dr. Kay Lindemann and BGL President Adalbert Wandt. They will be followed by Martin Schmied, Director, Department I 3 “Transport, Noise and Spatial Development” in the German Environmental Agency (UBA), explaining how the UBA sees future climate protection in transport and outlining the demands his agency places on industry, business and consumers.
Dr. Peter Vaughan Schmidt, Head of Strategy at Daimler Trucks, Daimler AG will look to the future and show which strategies for effective CO2 reduction might be applied in heavy commercial vehicles. Christopher Schuldes, from Schuldes Spedition GmbH, will then examine actual practice and illuminate how companies can already make an active contribution today by sensitizing their staff to climate protection.
The complex topic of sustainability will be addressed by Anders Nielsen, board member for Research and Development at Volkswagen Truck & Bus GmbH. Then Roland Klement, Board Member for technology at Schmitz Cargobull AG, will describe the influence trailers have on CO2 reduction, and what developments can be expected in the next few years.
After the key note lectures, a panel discussion will probe the topics in more depth. The panel will consist of Martin Schmied, UBA, Dr. Peter Vaughan Schmidt, Daimler, Christopher Schuldes, Schuldes Spedition, Anders Nielsen, Volkswagen Truck & Bus, Hubertus Kobernuss, Deputy Chairman of the BGL’s Technical Committee, and Uwe Sasse from Fahrzeugwerk Bernard Krone GmbH & Co. KG. The event will be hosted by Thomas Rosenberger, editor-in-chief of lastauto omnibus.
