Wissmann: We are very satisfied with this IAA so far

Hannover/Berlin, 26 September 2016

VDA President reviews the IAA – far more visitors per day – large number of purchasing agreements

On Monday Matthias Wissmann, President of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), reviewed progress so far at the 66th IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hannover: “As the organizers of the world’s most important trade show for transport, logistics and mobility, we are very satisfied with the IAA so far. During the Press Days – drawing over 2,000 journalists from 58 countries – it already became obvious that the forward-looking topics of digitization, electric mobility and urban logistics arouse huge interest. This trend has continued through the public days as well. The halls have a large number of visitors, as does the open-air site. A total of 332 world premieres and over 100 European premieres underscore the attraction of the IAA. The trade visitors have become even more international. And they are making decisions right here: the exhibitors report that purchasing agreements are being signed and orders placed at numerous stands.”

Wissmann explained that visitor numbers were not directly comparable because this year the IAA lasts for nine days (in 2014 it ran for ten days) and added, “This time we started a day later. But still the average number of people coming to the IAA per day is higher than it was two years ago. This year, after six days we have had over 165,000 visitors – almost as many as we had in 2014 after seven days. Now we are moving onto the home straight, and on Thursday we will take stock of the show. Everything, even the weather, suggests that this IAA will be very successful.”
