General Assembly of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) in Berlin
Matthias Wissmann, President of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), was today returned to office by the organization’s Managing Board, being unanimously elected for another two years at the General Assembly of VDA members in Berlin. Two vice-presidents, also members of the Presiding Board, were re-elected: Arndt G. Kirchhoff, Managing Partner of the Kirchhoff Group and CEO of Kirchhoff Holding GmbH & Co. KG, and Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management at Daimler AG. A new vice-president was also elected: Dr. Daniel Böhmer, CEO of F. X. Meiller Fahrzeug- und Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG. Dr. Böhmer was already a member of the VDA’s Managing Board. He replaces outgoing VDA Vice-president Ulrich Schöpker, from Schmitz Cargobull AG, who was no longer standing for election.
Since 2008, Schöpker has been an active member of the Advisory Board of Manufacturer Group II and a member of the VDA’s Managing Board. In 2012 he took over as chairman of Manufacturer Group II and became Vice-president of the VDA. Wissmann thanked Schöpker on behalf of the entire VDA for his many years of committed work in the association, saying that right from the outset Schöpker had been a strong voice supporting the interests of the makers of trailers and bodies within the VDA. Over a period of many years he had made a great contribution to raising the importance of commercial vehicles – including in the VDA. In addition, he had been a key player in decisions for even closer cooperation between commercial vehicle manufacturers and the companies in the trailer and body industry.
Gero Schulze Isfort, Managing Director of Fahrzeugwerk Bernard Krone GmbH & Co. KG, was elected as a new member of the VDA Managing Board.
