The German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) strongly rebuts attempts by some critics to do down the impact of the trade-in bonuses offered by German car manufacturers. The automotive industry is aware of its responsibility for regaining credibility and trust. The companies are therefore making a range of different contributions and the programs they have now presented add more detail to their pledges made at the diesel summit.
The manufacturers will bear the costs of these measures, which provide attractive offers to customers wishing to switch from an older diesel (Euro 4 or older) to an efficient new vehicle. This will accelerate fleet replacement and thus greatly help improve urban air quality and contribute to climate protection.
