Insurances and financial service continue to play an important role in the commercial vehicle business – an IAA symposium with high-caliber participants on 24 September 2018
Renting, leasing and financing are integral parts of the commercial vehicle business. These activities allow customers to meet their requirements in a flexible manner without having to use equity capital. Financial services take account of the customer's particular situation, which involves a high deployment of capital for the capital good "commercial vehicles." Comprehensive insurance coverage ensuring the smooth functioning of customers' vehicle fleets goes hand in hand with these financial services. Since many forwarding companies offer transport services abroad next to their regional distribution activities, the insurance business increasingly has to cover specific risks and assert itself in international competition.
Traditionally, numerous exhibitors from the sector of insurances and financial services are represented at the world's most important trade fair for transport, logistics and mobility, the 67th IAA Commercial Vehicles taking place from 20 – 27 September 2018 in Hannover. For this important business area, the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), together with the Banks of the German Automotive Industry (BDA) and the German Car Trust Agency (DAT), is hosting a specialist event entitled "Financial Services in the Commercial Vehicle Business" in Room 1a of the Convention Center (CC) from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, 24 September 2018.
The event will be opened by Klaus Bräunig, VDA Managing Director for Business Unit B. Next Armin Hofer, CEO of EURO-Leasing GmbH/MAN Financial Services Rental, will deliver a speech entitled "World of Heroes – Why Digitalization Plays an Important Role but Cannot Meet the Current Challenges in the Commercial Vehicle Industry on Its Own." “Brexit and Financial Services – Significance and Impact” will be the title of the talk by Dr. Sven Brandt, Lawyer/Partner, Hogan Lovells.
"Are Transporter Lagging Behind Requirements in Their Safety Equipment" is the topic of Jens Nietzschmann, Managing Director of DAT GmbH. Following this talk, Eric Schuh, Managing Director of Swiss Reinsurance Company Ltd., will speak on "Automotive Insurance and New Technologies." The event will close with a podium discussion.
The Symposium will be chaired by Dr. Ralf Scheibach, Head of the Law and Financial Services Department at VDA. The registration form and the symposium program are available on the IAA website. Attendance at the event is free.
