"Quality: The key to a successful transformation of the automotive industry"

The 19th VDA-QMC Quality Summit of the Automotive Industry opened today in the Technology Museum in Speyer. This year's title of the summit: Quality in the transformation process. The focus of the two-day meeting is on solutions to how the quality of the products, processes and systems of companies in the German automotive industry can be continuously developed, even in times of constantly new technical and regulatory challenges.

The annual quality summit is the most important conference for automotive quality management in Germany. The organizer is the Quality Management Center (VDA QMC), a department of the Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). This year around 150 representatives of the German and international automotive industry are taking part in the summit. They can expect more than 20 keynote speeches from experts from industry, research and politics.

"The automotive industry is undergoing a profound transformation process. Companies – manufacturers and suppliers – are pushing the transformation to climate-neutral mobility with all their might. This also means: In the current transformation, more innovations are being developed by suppliers and brought to series production than in previous situations in the automotive supply chain. This change in the automotive industry can only be managed through strong quality management on all sides, because innovation and quality leadership are essential for the German automotive industry," said VDA Managing Director Jürgen Mindel at the opening of the summit.

"It is clear to us: We want to continue to build the most climate-friendly, safest, most efficient and most digital cars in the world in the future - and quality is the basis for this to come true. Quality is the key to a successful transformation of the automotive industry," Mindel continued.

The VDA managing director emphasizes that quality in the automotive industry means more than product quality. "The companies in the German automotive industry live by quality in all corporate and production processes and that is exactly what makes them and their products so strong."
