IAA MOBILITY in Munich Captivates Over Half a Million People in One Week — Industry Presents an Innovation Showcase with More Than 350 World Premieres and New Releases — Record-High Internationality Among Exhibitors, Speakers, Guests, and Journalists — Around 3,700 Accredited Journalists from 70 Countries — Visitor Survey Confirms Excellent Reception of IAA MOBILITY — IAA Summit More Successful Than Ever Before
Almost 750 exhibitors from 37 countries sent a strong signal of new beginnings at this year's IAA MOBILITY under the theme: "It’s All About Mobility”. With well over 500,000 visitors, the record set in 2023 was slightly surpassed. The number of trade visitors at the IAA Summit rose by more than 13 percent compared to the 2023 event. This is a clear sign that the concept, based on a Summit for trade visitors and an Open Space for the general public, is a major success story.
German Automotive Industry Impresses with Innovation, Passion, and Performance
Hildegard Müller: “The enthusiastic visitors to IAA MOBILITY demonstrate the strong interest in the future of mobility. Our concept has been very well-received and sets international standards. The German automotive industry impressively proved in Munich with concrete innovations and world premieres that we are global leaders, that we are already producing the products for climate-neutral and digital mobility, and that we are constantly working on new ideas. Another clear signal is being sent from Munich: We have accepted the challenge, and our industry has done its homework. Now it’s the turn of politics — we need a maximum offensive for location attractiveness and competitiveness so that the successes of our industry also become successes for Germany and Europe, for growth, prosperity, and jobs”.
“Our industry — our suppliers and manufacturers — have shown here that we stand for a maximum of quality, safety, efficiency, and strong brands. We combine tradition and modernity. And one more insight became clear and visible here in Munich: Every success story of the automotive industry is also a success story for our country”, Müller continued.
“We would also like to explicitly thank the Bavarian state government and the city of Munich, as well as all the trades that helped us make this IAA MOBILITY a successful and safe event. Special thanks also go to the police and security forces who ensured a smooth process”, explained Müller.
“The success of IAA MOBILITY gives us momentum for three more editions here in Munich,” stated the Co-CEOs of Messe München, Stefan Rummel and Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer. “Since its move to the state capital, the event has continuously evolved, providing added value for exhibitors and trade visitors from all over the world. This is shown by the high number of new exhibitors, the large proportion of international companies, and the positive feedback. The Open Space in Munich’s city center, with its free offerings for mobility enthusiasts, was once again very popular this year—because mobility concerns all of us. Furthermore, IAA MOBILITY makes an important economic contribution with a value creation in the triple-digit millions. We thank everyone who made this event possible, as this success can only be achieved through the cooperation of all participants. Therefore, together with our IAA MOBILITY team, we are particularly looking forward to the next three editions in Munich”.
IAA MOBILITY – Records in Premieres and Participation
A total of around 750 exhibitors from 37 countries presented their products and innovations. Over 350 world premieres and new releases were showcased, an increase of 17% compared to 2023. The proportion of foreign exhibitors reached 57%, with the largest contingents coming from China, South Korea, Austria, Italy, and the USA. This high level of internationality was also reflected in the visitors: the international share of total attendees was around 24%. Most international visitors came from Great Britain, Austria, China, and Italy, while France provided the most trade visitors.
Around 3,700 journalists from 70 countries were accredited. On Press Day, 2,344 journalists, including 1,438 international journalists, participated. This is 7% more than in 2023. Online coverage saw a growth of over 10% compared to 2023.
IAA MOBILITY Summit Sets Trade Visitor Record
The aisles and booths at the Summit were very well-attended. Most exhibitors reported a high quality and quantity of trade visitors. Around 90% of Summit visitors rated achieving their goals as good to excellent. 88% of Summit visitors rated the IAA Summit as good to excellent, and 95% rated the exhibition areas as good to excellent. With a total of more than 13% more visitors, the IAA Summit recorded a new attendance record. 71% of returning IAA Summit visitors considered this year's IAA the best they had ever attended.

More than 91% of visitors rated the IAA Conference as good to excellent, with 97% of respondents rating the quality of the speakers as good to excellent.
As part of IAA MOBILITY, 86 guided tours took place at the IAA Summit and in the IAA Open Space for prominent guests, including Chancellor Friedrich Merz, members of the German government, state governors, numerous state ministers and members of parliament from the federal, state, and European levels, as well as international delegations from China, Tunisia, and Canada, EU commissioners, governors from the USA, ambassadors, and top representatives from trade unions, associations, and the business community.
"The new visitor record at the IAA Summit underscores its relevance as a leading global platform. More than 69,000 trade visitors from 108 countries attended the IAA Summit. The feedback from our exhibitors was consistently positive. We are pleased that we can continue to build on this in 2027", said Jürgen Mindel, Managing Director of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA).
Largest IAA Open Space Ever Delights Visitors
The Open Space in the city center had a strong start and was well-attended despite the sometimes-unfavorable weather. With a 27% increase in exhibition space compared to 2023, the Open Space was the largest inner-city exhibition area in the over-100-year history of the IAA. The premiere of the "Festival of Lights Munich" was well-received. According to the official visitor survey, 94% of Open Space visitors rated the event as "very good" or "at least good." 79% of respondents would recommend IAA MOBILITY. For 86%, the IAA is the most important industry platform. 92% of those surveyed found the event to be sustainable and forward-looking. 95% of all visitors found the event's offerings comprehensive. 78% of returning visitors even considered this year's IAA the best they had ever attended. 96% of respondents described their visit as a multifaceted experience. 58% of the visitors in 2025 were first-time attendees.
Highest Number of Test Drives in IAA MOBILITY History
IAA MOBILITY focused particularly on dialogue, interactivity, and experience. There were a total of more than 12,000 test drives for cars and motorcycles, an increase of 27% compared to the previous event. Additionally, in the new ADAS & Telematics format (automated driving & telematics systems), there were over 450 drives. This is in addition to more than 4,200 test rides in the cycling area and on the new Cycling & Micromobility course. Over 50% of visitors can imagine buying an autonomously driven car. Over 94% of IAA Open Space visitors said they were looking forward to attending the next IAA MOBILITY.
Hildegard Müller: “People want to see and experience mobility innovations. Exchange and dialogue are crucial to meeting the demands and expectations of society, politics, and the economy. IAA MOBILITY is not only a world of experience but also a central meeting point for constructive dialogue. The IAA MOBILITY is the home for exactly these essential points. This is where the successes and the future of tomorrow are made possible”.
IAA MOBILITY Stays in Munich
The next three editions of IAA MOBILITY, until 2031, will take place in Munich. The German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) and Messe München agreed to this. This contract extension underscores the importance of Munich as an international trade fair location and of IAA MOBILITY as a central meeting point for the mobility industry. Explicit thanks for the good cooperation go to the Bavarian state government and the city of Munich. The next IAA MOBILITY will be held from September 7 to September 12, 2027. The IAA Summit will take place from September 7 to September 10 at the exhibition grounds. The IAA Open Space will be held from September 7 to September 12 in Munich’s city center. The IAA Press Day is on September 6, 2027, at the IAA Summit.
Following the repeated success of the new concept, the successful collaboration will continue. The proven concept, which combines the IAA Summit and conference for trade visitors with the free Open Space in the city center, has made Munich an international meeting point for exhibitors and visitors from all over the world.
