VDA Statement: Master plan for charging infrastructure 2030 – good news for consumers and electromobility

    Berlin, November 18, 2025

    VDA President Hildegard Müller:

"It is good news for consumers and for electromobility that the German Federal Cabinet today adopted the Master Plan for Charging Infrastructure 2030. The Master Plan includes a whole range of appropriate measures that can help to further increase the attractiveness of electromobility for consumers and thus strengthen the market ramp-up of electric vehicles. It will be crucial that these measures are now implemented quickly and consistently.

Positive measures include, in particular, greater transparency regarding charging prices, simpler and faster approval processes that can accelerate the overall expansion of charging options, and targeted support measures for charging infrastructure at multi-family buildings. Also positive is the commitment to further expanding the charging network for electric trucks along the highway at both serviced and unstaffed rest areas.

It is also welcome that the master plan provides improved framework conditions for bidirectional charging technology. The Bundestag further strengthened this technology and made it more attractive to consumers a few days ago with the amendment of the Energy Industry Act and the Electricity Tax Act.

However, it is critical that the growing segment of light electric commercial vehicles is only inadequately considered in the 2030 Charging Infrastructure Master Plan. Therefore, further specific measures for the accompanying development of dedicated charging infrastructure, particularly in urban areas, remain urgently needed to enable a genuine market ramp-up of light electric commercial vehicles."
