VDA offers free test drives in electric cars

Berlin, 22 May 2013

At the German Government’s International Conference entitled “Electric Mobility Going Global” on 27 and 28 May 2013 in Berlin, the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) is offering interested visitors a chance to sit behind the wheel of an electric car. They will “experience electric mobility” for themselves, in more than 50 vehicles provided by German and international car makers for free test drives.

VDA President Matthias Wissmann commented, “Electric driving is no longer a vision, but a reality. Car lovers can experience the whole range of electric mobility up close here, from purely battery-powered cars to hybrid vehicles to models with range extenders. Our companies have numerous vehicle concepts emphasising their drive for innovations in the mobility of tomorrow.”

The test drives will last about 15 minutes. Participants do not have to visit the congress, but they must have a valid driving licence and ID. The route goes from the main entrance to the bcc Berliner Congress Center in Alexanderstrasse 11, 10178 Berlin, to the south side of the bcc in Jacobystrasse.

The test drives will begin at 10:00 am on both days. Participants may register from 9:30 am onwards. On Monday, 27 May 2013, test drives are possible up to 6:00 pm, and on Tuesday, 28 May 2013, the event will finish at 5:00 pm.
