In its first few days the world’s most important mobility trade fair has already confirmed its reputation as a crowd-puller. Although the weather left something to be desired, by Sunday afternoon far more than 300,000 automobile fans had already come to Frankfurt to experience the 159 world premieres and other attractions at this leading automotive trade show. This means that the number of visitors is as high as in recent years.
The IAA is obviously especially popular with young people. Over 32,000 schoolchildren and their teachers have already registered for the IAA schools’ campaign – a rise of 15 per cent compared to 2011.
“We are entering the second IAA week with confidence,” said Matthias Wissmann, President of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). The VDA organises the IAA, which with 1,098 exhibitors from 35 countries and an exhibition area of 230,000 square metres is the world’s leading motor show. On the Press Days (10 and 11 September 201s) over 11,500 journalists from 99 countries reported on the IAA. The IAA runs until 22 September.
