Brilliant sunshine, radiant smiles: Heribert Rink (55) and his daughter Michaela (25) are in the best of moods when they are picked up on Thursday morning and driven right up to the gates of the IAA in a silver metallic Porsche Panamera S. Today they are the VIPs at the “world’s most automobile show.” Porsche employee Salman Almas (35) collected his two guests from their home in Obertshausen and chauffeured them to the IAA in the VIP shuttle.
The trip in the VIP shuttle was won by Heribert Rink, a public employee in the town of Rodgau, near Frankfurt am Main, in a raffle run by Hit Radio FFH. In co-operation with the VDA and German passenger car manufacturers, the radio station is raffling off the personal IAA shuttle service in real dream cars. In front of the IAA Press Centre, Heribert and Michaela Rink are welcomed by the VDA and receive their VIP admission tickets.
Both of them are absolutely delighted with the ride in the Panamera S: “A fantastic car with powerful acceleration – and a lot of room inside. The dark brown leather seats are really smart and extremely comfortable. When it accelerated we were pressed back into our seats,” Heribert Rink recounts with enthusiasm. The Porsche Panamera is equipped with a V6 3-litre petrol engine that generates 420 hp and 520 Nm of torque. With the Porsche dual-clutch transmission it goes from zero to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds, and has a top speed of 287 km/h. Yet the Panamera S is also very economical, consuming only 8.7 l to travel 100 km.
Heribert Rink has been a regular at the IAA for many years. “This is the show of superlatives, I just have to come here! In previous years I generally came with a friend who was just as keen on cars as me.” Today his daughter Michaela is going with him for the first time. She is studying education and her father’s interest in cars seems to be in her genes, as she is a real automobile enthusiast. “At the moment I still drive a VW Polo, but my dream car is a sporty Audi TT – I’m going to buy myself one when I’ve finished my degree,” she says. Heribert Rink’s own car is an Audi A6 Avant with a 6 cylinder petrol engine.
What are they planning to see? “Of course the Porsche stand in Hall 3, and Audi. Then I’m not going to miss the fastest car in the world, the Bugatti, and the models from Lamborghini,” says Rink, who knows his way around the exhibition halls. Afterwards, he definitely wants to see Aston Martin in Hall 5, and visit the modification firm Mansory – and BMW in Hall 11 is also firmly placed on his wish list. So the Rinks have a full day ahead of them. But before they enter the IAA, they take a large number of photos with the silver-grey Porsche Panamera S: “This is a fantastic day with a fantastic car, and I will have to put the photos on Facebook,” says a radiant Michaela Rink.
After their extensive IAA visit, Heribert and Michaela Rink will be collected again by Salman Almas and driven home to Obertshausen in the Porsche.
