IAA Frankfurt am Main
Information Days at the 67th IAA Vehicles in Frankfurt am Main
In addition to the "school campaign”, the VDA gives even those people without a driver’s license a reason to feel that the IAA is an important trendsetting trade fair.
As a workshop, "goING" invites those secondary school pupils to the International Motor Show, who are interested in a career as an automotive engineer and are looking for information and contacts for their career choice.
goING introduces automotive manufactures and supply companies in Germany to young people for informative talks directly at the exhibitor stands. goING at the IAA also offers the possibility of talking to professors of engineering and young engineers about careers in this field.
As a VDA initiative, goIng is a campaign jointly organized by the manufacturers and supply companies in the automotive industry in order to come into direct contact with interested young people. goIng is a unique campaign in the German automotive industry with its balanced offer of discussions about training and careers.
Targets - goING shows the way to jobs in engineering in the automotive sector
Welcome to the IAA!
Being present when the automotive industry unveils its world premieres is easy at the International Motor Show (IAA). But at this trade fair the automotive companies will also present themselves as employers of committed young people who have talent and want to achieve something. Hardly any other industry offers as many opportunities and prospects for work.
The companies want to arouse youngsters’ enthusiasm for technology and will be on the look-out for potential engineers. At the IAA young people can find out more about technical occupations related to automobiles. Our "goING” campaign invites children in their final years of school to the IAA. Exciting lectures and a walking tour of the trade fair will provide initial insights into working as an engineer.
In the IAA exhibition halls, automotive manufacturers and supply firms will be available for face-to-face discussions to answer all the visitors’ questions to do with choosing a profession. Professors and young engineers will also be on hand to answer questions.
goING is a joint initiative of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA, the organiser of the IAA) and manufacturers and suppliers in the automotive industry at the IAA Commercial Vehicle in Hanover.
President of the Verband der Automobilindustrie (VDA)
Three good reasons to participate
To the motor vehicles – on your mark – get set – go
goING is the direct information platform for automotive engineers and those would like to enter this field. Three good reasons to take part in goIng:
- To obtain first-hand information about studies and careers in automotive engineering.
- To meet and talk with manufacturers and suppliers before starting your studies.
- To see and understand the ideas and products of tomorrow as a visitor to the IAA.
- All facts about goING can be found on this page.
- goING will take place at the 67th International Motor Show (IAA) Vehicles in Frankfurt am Main. Travel routes and further details about the IAA can be located at www.iaa.de.

Practice and theory:
To kick off the "goIng" day at the IAA, engineers who are successful in the automotive industry will be presenting their day-to-day work as well as some more exciting aspects of being an automotive engineer:
What are they working on, what talents do they consider important, and what motivates them?
This will be followed by professors of engineering who will show the path that has to be followed to find this type of job. The topics will include both the new European university degrees and the varying content of the different courses of study.
Individual questions about planning which course to take can also be discussed.
The highlight of the day will be the walking tour of the manufacturers and suppliers in the German automotive industry. Personnel officers will be present in person at the stands to explain the wide range of opportunities for embarking on a career in their company, such as internships, student projects, degree dissertations, and trainee programs. And has anyone heard of the dual training system or the integrated distance learning and campus courses?
There is a whole range of opportunities for an exciting career. Of course, participants can also take a close look at the latest product premieres at the stands at the trade show - hands-on, please!
The goIng day will achieve its objective if at the end of the day the schoolchildren know what it is like being an engineer and the educational options they have for pursuing such a career.
Contact & Registration for companies
Since the IAA in 2007 we have organised goING – a campaign to arouse the interest of upcoming engineers in the automotive industry. Ensuring enough young engineers to meet future needs is a very important task when it comes to securing the competitiveness of the automotive industry.
Encouraged by the excellent response from schools (from schoolchildren, and not least from teachers also), we would like to run the goING project once again at the IAA Verhicles in 2017.
We would like – in co-operation with you – to use the IAA as a showcase to reach young people in school and thus in the process of choosing a profession, to sensitise them to the idea of studying engineering and obtaining a very interesting job in the automotive industry.
Where better to do this than at the IAA, where you are displaying your latest developments: vehicles, systems, components and services?
We would be delighted if you would join the goING project and give it your support.
Attached please find our presentation explaining the goING concept, along with the registration form.
We thank our partners for the kind support:
