25. September - 02. October 2014
The origins of the IAA can be traced back to more than 115 years. In 1897, 8 motor vehicles were exhibited to the public at the Bristol Hotel in Berlin. From these humble beginnings, a regular exhibition was established. Due to its high visitor and exhibitor turnout the IAA was developed into a yearly alternating exhibition of passenger cars and commercial vehicles in 1991.
The IAA Cars has been held in odd-numbered years since 1991 in Frankfurt/Main. After the German Reunification boom, a record level of visitors attended the IAA Cars in 2003. About 1000 exhibitors from 42 countries presented their products over an area of 215 000 square meters. The next IAA Cars in 2005 actively covered the topics of hybrids, hydrogen and SCR technologies and current problems.
"See what’s driving the future" was the motto of the IAA Cars 2007. The focus of the 62nd IAA Cars was the newest developments aimed at achieving CO2reductions. German manufacturers, for example, presented a whole range of diesel, gasoline, natural gas and hybrid models.
The 63rd IAA Cars was a logical extension of the 62nd IAA Cars (2007), whereby the slogan – "A Moving Experience” – indicated that in 2009 the promise of 2007 "See what´s driving the future” was kept. That enabled the IAA, in a global environment of greatly reduced trade fair activity, to assert itself and strengthen its position as the leading international forum for mobility.
The 64th IAA Cars was the consequent programmatic continuation of both previous IAA Cars. Under the headline "Future comes as Standard" it was made clear that the way to higher efficiency and lower fuel consumption will be pursued strongly. The IAA has shown proceedings in alternative powertrains and electric mobility, but also displayed the successes in conventional propulsion drives and lightweight construction.
The 66th IAA Cars will take place in Frankfurt/Main, Germany from September 17th to 27th, 2015.
IAA Commercial Vehicles
The IAA Commercial Vehicles has been held in Hanover in even-numbered years since 1992.
From the start this event booked 1318 companies as exhibitors. In 2000, the number of visitors from the business sector increased to over 90 percent. Today the 64th IAA Commercial Vehicles, which took place from September 20th to 27th, 2012, with a record 354 world premiers, consolidated its position as the leading trade fair. Overall, the 64th IAA Commercial Vehicles had more exhibitors, more space, more world premieres and more visitors - so it can be called a huge success!
The 65th IAA Commercial Vehicles will take place in Hanover from September 25th to October 2nd, 2014.
