workING 2016 – Prospects in the Automotive Industry

The event is focusing on students and explains in fascinating presentations different aspects in the modern working environment of the automotive industry.

What next?

Students (bachelor or master) with interest in automotive industry are welcome to "workING" on this year's International Motor Show (IAA).

Different companies will present prospects in the automotive industry and will explain their career management. You will get information about trainee programs and the possibility to cooperate with universities (e.g. master thesis or hands-on training).

The International Motorshow should be used to get in touch with employees of the companies - human resources as well as development departments.

Motivation - Create future Mobility

Especially today a lot of differents chances for upcoming engineers in the wide field of automotive industry can be seen. In this context a lot of interesting jobs in a high industrialized and specialized environment will offered by several companies.

Companies are interested in getting qualified and high motivated employees to design the vehicles for tomorrow. Promoting young talents and researchers will be essential to develop competetive products and offer excellent services.

Beside the established car and truck manufactures a lot of small and medium enterprises, suppliers and engineering companies provide innovations and offer attractive jobs in a wide variety of automobil industry (development, simulation, testing, design, styling, quality management, logistics, process planning ...).

The visit of the International Automobil Motorshow can be used to get in touch with respresentatives of different companies. You can get information about the trainee and other career entry programs. You will be in contact with employees of human resources departments and you will see some presentations from several departments to get an impression about the companies business.

The German Assocation of Automotive Industry supports the cooperation of automotive industry and universities. You get a chance to have a look backstage of the companies.

Every student of a university can participate. For registration the online portal shall be used. The confirmation of your registration will be send immediately. The deadline for online registration is the 12th of September 2016.


The attendance of "workING" inclusive the ticket to IAA is free. You get the ticket after registration in advance of the event. Travel costs cannot be refunded.


General Information


Several companies will give a presentation in a conference room. The presentations are up to 25 minutes and will give you an overview about the company or current work of an employee from a operating department. Furthermore career entry programs will be explained. You have the opportunity to get answers on your questions and to discuss with employees from human recources departments.
The event will be finished in the early afternoon. Then you have the possibility to visit the Motorshow.


"workING" will be organised by the German Association of Automotive Industry (VDA) in cooperation with several companies. The companies are responsible for the content of the presentations.

By intercity bus service

The Central Bus Station ZOB is located in the Hannover city center behind the central railway station at Raschplatz.

From the railway station, the urban tram lines 8 and 18 provide frequent transportation service to the Hannover trade fair grounds ("Messegelände", entrance “NORD 1”) with a transit time of about 18 minutes. The Central Bus Station is operated by Berlin Linien Bus, Deutsche Touring/Eurolines, FlixBus, City2City und Postbus.

By Train

All trains run by Deutsche Bahn AG arrive at Hannover's central railway station ("Hauptbahnhof"). From there, the urban tram lines 8 and 18 provide frequent transportation service to the Hannover trade fair grounds ("Messegelände") with a transit time of about 18 minutes.

By Airplane

Transfer with Suburban Railway S5:
All year round from Hannover Airport - S- Railway Station (situated between terminal B and C) to Main Railway Station by local railway connection (S-Bahn), travel time 12 - 15 minutes. From Main Railway Station to the Exhibition Grounds, entrance NORD

By Car

From the North:
A7 to the freeway (autobahn) intersection Hannover-Kirchhorst and from there, take the A37, which merges into the trade fair expressway (B3/B6)

From the South:
A7 to the freeway (autobahn) triangle Hannover-Süd (Hannover South) and then take the A37, which merges into the trade fair expressway (B6)

From the West:
A2 to the freeway (autobahn) intersection Hannover-Buchholz and from there take the A37, which merges into the trade fair expressway (B6)

From the East:
A2 to the freeway (autobahn) intersection Hannover-Ost (Hannover East) and then take the A7 to the Hannover-Anderten freeway junction and from there, take the southern express road (B65) to the trade fair expressway (B3/B6).
