workING 2017 – Prospects in the Automotive Industry

The event is focusing on students and explains in fascinating presentations different aspects in the modern working environment of the automotive industry.

What next?

Students (bachelor or master) with interest in automotive industry are welcome to "workING" on this year's International Motor Show (IAA).

Different companies will present prospects in the automotive industry and will explain their career management. You will get information about trainee programs and the possibility to cooperate with universities (e.g. master thesis or hands-on training).

The International Motor Show should be used to get in touch with employees of the companies - human resources as well as development departments.

Create future Mobility

Especially today a lot of different chances for upcoming engineers in the wide field of automotive industry can be seen. In this context a lot of interesting jobs in a high industrialized and specialized environment will be offered by several companies.

Companies are interested in getting qualified and high motivated employees to design the vehicles for tomorrow. Promoting young talents and researchers will be essential to develop competetive products and offer excellent services.

Beside the established car and truck manufactures a lot of small and medium enterprises, suppliers and engineering companies provide innovations and offer attractive jobs in a wide variety of automobil industry (development, simulation, testing, design, styling, quality management, logistics, process planning ...).

You can get information about trainee and other career entry programs. You will be in contact with employees of human resources departments and you will see some presentations from several departments to get an impression about the companies business.

Registration Procedure

Every student of a university in Germany or from a forgein country can participate. For registration the online portal shall be used. If the event will be organised on more than one day a registration is need for every single day you are willing to attend. It is up to you to attend the event for one or more days.

The confirmation of your registration will be send immediately after registration via email.

The deadline for online registration is the 15th of September 2015.

The attendance of "workING" inclusive the ticket to IAA is free. Access to the event location is possible without IAA entrance ticket. You will get the day ticket for IAA after this event. Travel costs cannot be refunded.


Several companies will give a presentation in a conference room. The presentations are up to 25 minutes and will give you an overview about the company or current work of an employee from an operating department. Furthermore career entry programs will be explained. You have the opportunity to get answers on your questions and to discuss with employees from human recources departments.
The event will be finished in the early afternoon. Then you have the possibility to visit the Motor Show.


"workING" will be organised by the German Association of Automotive Industry (VDA) in cooperation with several companies. The companies are responsible for the content of the presentations.

Arrival by Train

Frankfurt/Main Hauptbahnhof (Central station) - train connections to Frankfurt/Main are available from all directions. From central station to the IAA exhibition grounds: by taxi, walking (approximately 10 min) or public transport. Tram no. 16 or 17 or subway line U4 go to the IAA entrance “City” (station "Festhalle/Messe"). IAA admission tickets are not valid for public transport.

Arrival by public transport from central station (“Hauptbahnhof”)

Arrival by intercity bus service

Intercity buses arrive directly in the center of Frankfurt/Main at the central station (“Hauptbahnhof”). From the central station you will quickly get to the IAA trade fair grounds by tram (16 and 17) or with the subway U4 (see public transport).

Arrival by Airplane

From Frankfurt Airport (FRA) either take a taxi to the exhibition grounds or use public transport – the S-Bahn to “Hauptbahnhof” (Central Station). From there you can either walk (10 min.), take a taxi, or see under public transport.

Arrival by Car

All relevant motorway exits (e.g. A5, Frankfurt West/Messe) and streets leading to the IAA visitor parking lots are signposted by the IAA guidance system. Traffic control signage by the police responds dynamically according to traffic capacities. Therefore a routing via personal GPS device is not recommended within the urban area. Please follow the IAA signage plus guidance from the IAA service personnel along the way. The IAA visitor parking lots are located outside Frankfurt´s Environmental Emission Zone and can be used without an official emission zone permit (exception: lot “Gleisdreieck”).
