How the EU is driving digital transformation

Shaping the digital transformation is one of the European Commission's priorities. The Commission's measures include a European data strategy, a regulation on artificial intelligence, laws on digital services and digital markets, a Data Governance Act, cybersecurity and an EU data law. Some of the initiatives are still in preparation or already in the ordinary legislative process.

Data, digitized facts and networked production have already assumed a high priority in industry today. The automotive industry is one of the innovative pioneers here in terms of its products and services as well as operational networking.

One important issue for the automotive industry concerns remote access to vehicle data. The Commission will submit a regulatory proposal as part of its digitization agenda before the end of 2021.
