    Hydrogen instead of batteries

    Parallel to battery-electric electromobility, BMW is developing drives with hydrogen. A BMW was already running on hydrogen as early as 1979 - at that time with a hydrogen combustion engine. Now BMW is working on a new test fleet of the current X5 with hydrogen fuel-cell drives.

    The X5 can be refueled with six kilograms of hydrogen for a full range in just four minutes.
