The department for security, data and digitalization acts as a central point for all matters relating to digital transformation in the automotive industry. Its responsibilities extend across various key areas that contribute significantly to safety, efficiency and innovation in the automotive industry. A core area is the cybersecurity of vehicles. As modern vehicles become increasingly connected, it is critical to adopt robust security standards to minimize potential cyber threats.

The department also deals intensively with the use of data in the automotive sector. This is essential given the wealth of data that modern vehicles generate and process. Data forms the basis for digital applications in vehicles, some of which use artificial intelligence (AI) to contribute to greater driving safety and efficiency. AI is therefore another area of activity for the department as an example of digital innovation in the automotive industry. The department aims to continuously help shape innovation-friendly framework conditions for the development and integration of digital solutions in vehicles. Together with other players, the department wants to help lead the automotive industry into the digital age and position it at the forefront of technological innovation.

The department of Cyber Security & Economic Protection focuses on protecting the automotive industry from digital threats and securing the economic interests of our members. We develop robust security standards to protect vehicles from cyberattacks and ensure the integrity of their systems. Our goal is to create a safe and trustworthy environment for the digital transformation of the automotive industry. Economic protection also plays an important role here.

In the department of Data, Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence (AI), we are committed to unlocking the full potential of data in the automotive industry and driving forward the implementation of innovative, digital solutions. We develop strategies to collect, store and analyze vehicle data to generate insights that improve product development, customer experience and operational efficiency. Artificial intelligence is a key technology for the automotive industry. In the future, it will be used even more widely along the entire automotive value chain. We want to create the conditions for legally compliant use of AI so that the potential that AI offers for industry and consumers can be leveraged.
