Working group
Consumer Electronics for Automotive (CE4A)
The Consumer Electronics for Automotive is a working group formed by several VDA member companies. Our main objective is the standardization of automotive specifications for the interface between mobile devices and automotive ECUs.
About Us
CE4A (Consumer Electronics for Automotive) is a working group of VDA (Association of the German Automotive Industry) since July 2009.
CE4A is structured into three expert groups, each with a specific area of expertise. Regularly scheduled activities are coordinated and directed by management-level steering committees. CE4A's primary objective is to publish automotive specifications for the interfaces between mobile devices and automotive ECUs. The goal is to standardise these interfaces, enabling the integration of new technologies into cars. CE4A members apply existing standards from the consumer electronics industry to the automotive industry, adapting and matching interface specifications.
Furthermore, CE4A presents a common reference platform to standardise implementations on both sides, vehicle and consumer electronics.
